Regular Season Round 7: Catz - HyPo 74-60

The game between Top Four teams took place in Lappeenranta. Leader host Catz Lappeenranta (7-0) defeated 3rd placed HyPo (4-3) 74-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of HyPo. The game was mostly controlled by Catz Lappeenranta. HyPo was better in third quarter 21-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding HyPo to just 7 points in second quarter. Catz Lappeenranta forced 19 HyPo turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Dayeesha Hollins (168-91, college: Cincinnati) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Her fellow American import swingman Alexandria Anderson (186-86, college: Chattanooga, agency: Regeneracom Sports) accounted for 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. Four Catz Lappeenranta players scored in double figures. The former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier, agency: Regeneracom Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and the former international power forward Laura Saarinen (187-92) added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively for HyPo in the defeat. HyPo's coach Tero Niskanen rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Catz Lappeenranta have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 7-0 record. Newly promoted HyPo dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Catz Lappeenranta will play against ViVe (#6) in Vimpeli in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. HyPo will play at home against the league's second-placed Peli-Karhut and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
