Regular Season Round 7: Milano - Alghero 75-62

The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Alghero's (0-4) road loss to seventh ranked Milano (2-3) 62-75 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-62. Milano dominated on the defensive end, holding Alghero to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Alghero's 38. They outrebounded Alghero 41-28 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for center Dunia Vujovic (188-87) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Silvia Gottardi (176-78) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Argentinian power forward Erica Sanchez (182-76) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds (made all of her nine free throws !!!) and Israeli forward Delia Gagliano (180-97) added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Alghero. Milano moved-up to fifth place in A2. Loser Alghero still closes the standings with four games lost. Milano will face league's leader San Giovanni in Sesto San Giovanni in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alghero will play on the road against Carugate (#7) in Corugate and hopes to get finally their first victory.
