Valencia Basket did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 81-64 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 17 points. Valencia Basket outrebounded Blusens Monbus 34-23 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Valencia Basket especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. The best player for the winners was Central African swingman Romain Sato (194-81, college: Xavier) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. The former international guard Rafael Martinez (191-82) chipped in 19 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Polish swingman Adam Waczynski (199-89) who recorded 12 points and 4 assists and Czech Pavel Pumprla (198-86) added 8 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia Basket moved-up to fifth place, which they share with FIATC Joventut and UCAM Murcia. Loser Blusens Monbus dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Valencia Basket will face higher ranked Regal FC Barcelona (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Blusens Monbus will play against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#15) and hope to win that game.
