Regular Season Round 9: VEF skola - Jugla 84-61

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Riga: VEF skola and Jugla. VEF skola (5-3) crushed visiting Jugla (3-4) by 23 points 84-61. The game without a history. VEF skola led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Jugla's players. The best player for the winners was power forward Karlis Silins (202-97) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Rodions Kurucs (204-98) chipped in 9 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. VEF skola's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Janis Skvarnavics (180-96) who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Rauls Avenitis (190-96) added 20 points respectively. VEF skola moved-up to second place. Jugla at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. VEF skola will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Jugla will play at home against the league's leader BS Ogre (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
