Regular Season Round 7: Alpo VR - Crema 54-68

Serie A2 top team - Team Crema (6-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Alpo VR (2-4) in Verona 68-54. It looked good early as Alpo VR took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Team Crema had a 20-9 second period charge getting the lead and Alpo VR was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 54-68. Team Crema dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Alpo VR's 26. Team Crema forced 25 Alpo VR turnovers. Forward Martina Picotti (184-90) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Gilda Cerri (175-90) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Giulia Monica (169-87) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Marina Fumagalli (175-93) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Team Crema maintains first place in A2 with 6-1 record. Newly promoted Alpo VR keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Team Crema's next round opponent will be Albino (#5) at home. Alpo VR will play against Virtus Cagliari and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
