Regular Season Round 7: Marinella - Civitanova 70-55

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Marinella (5-2) beat 6th ranked Civitanova (2-4) in Santa Marinella 70-55 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Marinella. Civitanova was better in second period 23-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Marinella forced 20 Civitanova turnovers. Quite impressive performance for Latvian forward Ieva Veinberga (185-84) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 7 rebounds. Center Costanza Giorgi (185-89) contributed with 8 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Marinella's coach Daniele Precetti used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Center Licia Filippetti (185-86) answered with 14 points and 7 rebounds and guard Federica Iannucci (172-93) added 17 points in the effort for Civitanova. Newly promoted Marinella maintains second place in A2 with 5-2 record behind leader Crema. Loser Civitanova keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Marinella will face Irpino (#4) in Ariano Irpino in the next round. Civitanova will play at home against Salerno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
