Regular Season Round 4: Guangdong ST - Qingdao E. 127-116

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Dongguan where 5th ranked Qingdao Eagles (2-1) were defeated by sixth ranked Guandong Tigers (3-1) 127-116 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 127-116. Guandong Tigers outrebounded Qingdao Eagles 44-32 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Qingdao Eagles were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. DR Congolese guard Emmanuel Mudiay (196-96) fired a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists for the winners. International FangYu Zhu (201-83) chipped in 28 points and 6 rebounds. Five Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. American point guard Justin Dentmon (183-85, college: Washington, agency: Comsport) produced 38 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 9 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) added 24 points and 18 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guandong Tigers have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Beijing Ducks and TianJin S. Loser Qingdao Eagles dropped to the seventh position with one game lost. Guandong Tigers will face Fujian (#16) in Jinjiang in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Qingdao Eagles will play at home against Bayi Rockets (#18) and hope to win that game.
