Regular Season Round 4: Thor AK - KFI 68-80

Another exciting game was played in Akureyri between seventh ranked KFI and bottom-ranked Thor AK where KFI (1-4) beat Thor AK (0-5) on the road 80-68. The game was mostly controlled by KFI. Thor AK was better in third quarter 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Thor AK's 32. Worth to mention a great performance of center Birgir Petursson (205-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four KFI players scored in double figures. American forward Frisco Sandidge (198-87, college: Delaware St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and guard Arnor Jonsson (185-92) added 22 points in the effort for Thor AK. KFI maintains seventh position with 1-4 record. It was Thor AK's fifth loss in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. KFI will play against higher ranked Breidablik (#5) in Kopavogur in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Thor AK will play on the road against Valur in Reykjavik and hopes to get finally their first victory.
