There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (1-5) was outscored at home by twelfth ranked Ironi Nahariya (1-5) 83-63 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-63. Ironi Nahariya made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game. Maccabi Ashdod was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Nate Miller (193-87, college: Bowling Green, agency: KMG Sports Management) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import John Williamson (200-86, college: Cincinnati, agency: KMG Sports Management) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American Curtis Kelly (205-88, college: Kansas St.) replied with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks and point guard Avi Ben-Chimol (194-85) added 14 points in the effort for Maccabi Ashdod. Five Ironi Nahariya and four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ironi Nahariya left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Maccabi Ashdod and Hapoel Eilat. Ironi Nahariya will face higher ranked Maccabi Rishon (#3) in Rishon Le-Zion in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Maccabi Ashdod will play on the road against the league's leader Hapoel Jerusalem where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
