Very expected game when 9th ranked Tczew (1-5) was edged at home by fifth ranked Trefl II Sopot (4-2) 72-69 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 15-7 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Trefl II Sopot dominated on the defensive end, holding Tczew to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 24 Tczew turnovers. Tczew was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for point guard Pawel Dzierzak (190-95) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Power forward Jakub Czyz (202-95) helped adding 21 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side center Pawel Samujlo (202-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and guard Kamil Zebrowski (188-89) scored 11 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Trefl II Sopot moved-up to third place in Group A, which they share with AZS PGd. Tczew lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Trefl II Sopot will face Kotwica (#6) in Kolobrzeg in the next round. Tczew will play on the road against SMS PZKosz in Wladyslawowo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
