Regular Season Round 6: Sevilla - CAI Zaragoza 77-73

Sevilla can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked CAI Zaragoza (3-3) 77-73 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-17. But CAI Zaragoza won second period 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded CAI Zaragoza 44-22 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Alex Urtasun (193-84) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian guard Nikola Radicevic (197-94) chipped in 15 points and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: Beo Basket) with 15 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Marcus Landry (201-85, college: Wisconsin) scored 17 points. Four Sevilla and five CAI Zaragoza players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sevilla (1-5) left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser CAI Zaragoza dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Iberostar Tener. and Rio Natura Mnb.. Sevilla will meet higher ranked Asefa Estudiantes (#13) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. CAI Zaragoza will play against the league's second-placed Bilbao Basket (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
