Very important is a road loss of third ranked Adelaide 36ers (3-3) against sixth ranked Kings (3-3) on Sunday night. Visiting Adelaide 36ers were defeated by Kings in a tough game in Sydney 100-107. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Adelaide 36ers. Adelaide 36ers were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Kings made 31-of-35 charity shots (88.6 percent) during the game, while Adelaide 36ers only scored fourteen points from the stripe. Strangely Adelaide 36ers outrebounded Kings 47-33 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 11 blocks. Adelaide 36ers were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Josh Childress (203-83, college: Stanford) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 19 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 blocks. International swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta St.) contributed with 26 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Kings' coach Damian Cotter allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International guard Adam Gibson (188-86) answered with 30 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international Brock Motum (207-90, college: Washington St.) added 28 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Adelaide 36ers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kings moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 36ers. Kings will play against higher ranked Perth Wildcats (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Adelaide 36ers will play against United and hope to get back on the winning track.
