Seria A1 top team - Familia Schio (7-0) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat seventh ranked Cagliari CUS (4-3) 89-75. The game was mostly controlled by Familia Schio. Cagliari CUS was better in fourth quarter 23-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Familia Schio dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Cagliari CUS's 32. They outrebounded Cagliari CUS 43-25 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Nigerian-American forward Chiney Ogwumike (193-92, college: Stanford) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 20 rebounds. Croatian center Iva Sliskovic (190-84, college: S.Carolina) helped adding 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Familia Schio players scored in double figures. At the losing side naturalized Serbian guard Milica Micovic (182-84, agency: Players Group) responded with 21 points (made all of her nine free throws !!!) and American guard Tricia Liston (185-92, college: Duke) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Familia Schio. Defending champion maintains first place with 7-0 record, which they share with Ragusa. Cagliari CUS at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Venezia and Umbertide. Familia Schio will play against league's second-placed Ragusa on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cagliari CUS will play against Trieste and hopes to get back on the winning track.
