The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Panathinaikos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Panathinaikos defeated 4th placed AGOR in Athens 79-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of AGOR. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-70. Panathinaikos looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international point guard Dimitris Diamantidis (196-80) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Uruguayan-Spanish power forward Esteban Batista (208-83, agency: Duran International) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Senegalese forward Mouhammad Faye (208-85, college: SMU) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and American point guard Vincent Council (188-90, college: Providence) added 17 points and 5 assists in the effort for AGOR. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panathinaikos (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. AGOR at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with Nea Kifisia. AGOR will play next round against strong Olympiacos trying to get back on the winning streak. Panathinaikos will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked PAOK in Thessaloniki.
