Unicaja Malaga (5-1) recorded its first loss in Badalona on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by eighth ranked FIATC Joventut (4-2) 82-74. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Unicaja Malaga. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 39-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Unicaja Malaga 34-21 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American-French forward Tariq Kirksay (199-79, college: Iona) who scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized Senegalese forward Sitapha Savane (201-78, college: Navy) chipped in 16 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Uruguayan-Italian point guard Jayson Granger (188-89) who recorded 14 points and 5 assists and American guard Ryan Toolson (193-85, college: Utah Valley) added 15 points respectively. Four FIATC Joventut and five Unicaja Malaga players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. FIATC Joventut moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Valencia and UCAM Murcia. Unicaja Malaga at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with FC Barcelona and Bilbao Basket. FIATC Joventut is looking forward to face Andorra (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Unicaja Malaga will play against CB Canarias (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
