Regular Season Round 6: Maccabi T-A - Hapoel T-A 58-78

Date: November 10, 2014
There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (3-3) crushed on the road one of their biggest challengers Maccabi T-A (4-2) 78-58 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Maccabi T-A was better in fourth quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Tel-Aviv made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American Larry O'Bannon (192-83, college: Louisville, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Jamaican swingman Durand Scott (196-90, college: Miami, FL) contributed with 18 points for the winners. American swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) replied with 20 points and international center Alex Tyus (203-88, college: Florida) added 4 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Maccabi T-A. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hapoel Tel-Aviv moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hapoel Holon and Maccabi Haifa. Defending champion Maccabi T-A keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will face Bnei Hasharon in Hod Hasharon in the next round. Maccabi T-A will play on the road against Galil Gilboa in Rosh Pina and hope to win that game.
