The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Guangdong Dolphins' (3-2) home victory over 8th ranked Whale (1-4) in Guangzhou 85-77 on Tuesday. Whale was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Whale 42-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Guangdong Dolphins looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American center Aneika Henry (193-86, college: Florida) nailed a double-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and forward Sijing Huang (192-96) accounted for 25 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Siyang Wu (182-91) came up with 23 points and Filipino-American center Chay Shegog (196-90, college: N.Carolina) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Whale in the defeat. Four Whale players scored in double figures. Guangdong Dolphins moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Shenyang. Newly promoted Whale dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with Heilongjiang and Zhejiang. Guangdong Dolphins will meet Bayi Kylin (#7) in the next round. Whale will play against the league's second-placed Shanghai Octopus and hope to win that game.
