Regular Season Round 5: Shanxi Zh. - TianJin S. 118-108

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (3-2) won against higher ranked TianJin Steel (3-2) in Taiyuan 118-108 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Shanxi Zhongyu. TianJin Steel was better in fourth quarter 34-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shanxi Zhongyu looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by TianJin Steel's players. Jordanian forward Zaid Abbas (203-83) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds. American forward Jeremy Tyler (208-91, college: Louisville) contributed with 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American guard Quincy Douby (190-84, college: Rutgers) answered with 50 points (!!!) and 5 assists and the other American import forward Shelden Williams (206-83, college: Duke) added 20 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for TianJin Steel. Five Shanxi Zhongyu and four TianJin Steel players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Shanxi Zhongyu moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated TianJin Steel. Shanxi Zhongyu will face Jiangsu TX (#18) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
