The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Levice's (5-6) road loss to fifth ranked Handlova (7-5) 74-112 on Wednesday. Handlova shot 60.3 percent from the field. They also forced 22 Levice turnovers and outrebounded them 36-18 including a 24-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Handlova looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Levice's players. The best player for the winners was Croatian swingman Luka Drezga (196-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency) who scored 18 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. American forward Preston Purifoy (196-92, college: UAB) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Handlova's coach Ludovit Smacko felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian point guard Luka Igrutinovic (193-92) who recorded 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Serbian center Milan Oluic (210-84) added 13 points respectively. Five Handlova and four Levice players scored in double figures. Handlova have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Iskra Svit. Levice lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. Handlova will meet league's leader Inter Bratislava on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Levice will play against Nitra (#10) and hope to secure a win.
