Regular Season Round 7: Oviedo - Forca Lleida 66-60

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Lleida Basquet (3-3) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Oviedo CB (4-3) 66-60 on Wednesday. Lleida Basquet was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 16-7 charge of Oviedo CB, which allowed them to win the game. Oviedo CB dominated on the defensive end, holding Lleida Basquet to just 7 points in fourth quarter. It was a great evening for Alvaro Munoz (197-90, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Lander Lasa (193-88) helped adding 13 points. Munoz is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side center Francisco Guerra (214-92) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and power forward Javier Mugica (200-83) scored 7 points and 9 rebounds. Lleida Basquet's coach gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Oviedo CB moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Lleida Basquet dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Oviedo CB will face league's leader Blancos de Rueda in Valladolid in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lleida Basquet will play at home against the league's second-placed Planasa NV (#2) and hope to win that game.
