Regular Season Round 6: Skallagrimur - Stjarnan 94-85

Skallagrimur can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Stjarnan (3-3) 94-85 on Thursday. Stjarnan was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a great shooting night for Skallagrimur especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Tracey Smith (203-89, college: N.Carolina St.) had a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Arnar Bjornsson (180-93) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was international point guard Justin Shouse (181-81, college: Mercyhurst) with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Jarrid Frye (196-85, college: Sacred Heart) scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Skallagrimur and four Stjarnan players scored in double figures. Skallagrimur (1-5) left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with IR and Fjolnir. Loser Stjarnan keeps the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Skallagrimur will again meet higher ranked Stjarnan (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Stjarnan will play against Fjolnir and hope to secure a win.
