Regular Season Round 2: Gorgan - Azad 48-67

Very significant was Azad's 19-point road victory against Shahrdari Gorgan 67-48. Shahrdari Gorgan was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. International power forward Rouzbeh Arghavan (214-88) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international point guard Hamed Hosseinzadeh (187-87) supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Azad players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds by the former international power forward Sasoon Abramian (208-87) did not help to save the game for Shahrdari Gorgan. The former international guard Benny Koochoie (190-86, college: CS Stanislaus) added 8 points for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Azad will play against PMINA Esfahan in the next round where they are favorite. Shahrdari Gorgan will play against Mahram in Tehran and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
