Regular Season Round 6: Grindavik - Njardvik 74-85

The biggest surprise of round 6 was guest Njardvik's (3-3) road victory over 7th ranked Grindavik (2-4) 85-74 on Thursday evening. Grindavik was trailing by 14 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 27-15 charge of Njardvik, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Grindavik's 22. Njardvik had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Dustin Salisbery (196-84, college: Temple) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds. The former international Logi Gunnarsson (190-81) chipped in 15 points and 7 assists. Four Njardvik players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was international guard Olafur Olafsson (194-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) added 18 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Njardvik moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Grindavik at the other side dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Njardvik is looking forward to face Snaefell (#8) in Stykkisholmur in the next round. Grindavik will play on the road against IR in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
