Regular Season Round 6: Haukar - Thor Thorl 94-109

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Haukar (4-2) against eighth ranked Thor Thorl (3-3) on Friday night. Host Haukar was defeated by Thor Thorl in Hafnarfjordur 109-94. The game without a history. Thor Thorl led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-23 charity shots (87.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Thor Thorl especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. It was a good game for American guard Vincent Sanford (190-90, college: Dayton, agency: Promotex) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 12 rebounds. Serbian-Canadian forward Nemanja Sovic (198-77, college: Pfeiffer) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Alex Francis (198-91, college: Bryant, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) replied with 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and guard Emil Barja (192-91) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Haukar. Five Thor Thorl and four Haukar players scored in double figures. Thor Thorl moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Haukar at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Keflavik. Thor Thorl will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Haukar will play on the road against the league's leader KR in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
