Regular Season Round 14: Sundsvall - Umea 98-93
Date: November 14, 2014
Rather expected game when 8th ranked Umea (3-9) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Sundsvall Dragons (6-4) 98-93. It looked good early as Umea took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Sundsvall Dragons had a 26-14 second period charge getting the lead and Umea was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 93-98. Sundsvall Dragons made 22-of-24 charity shots (91.7 percent) during the game. American swingman Akeem Wright (200-84, college: Kansas St.) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and Icelandic point guard Jakob Sigurdarson (192-82, college: Birm.Southern) supported him with 23 points. Wright is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Sundsvall Dragons players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 31 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals by American point guard Omar Krayem (185-86, college: Cal.Baptist) did not help to save the game for Umea. His fellow American import power forward Germain Jordan (198-86, college: Dillard, agency: Court Side) added 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the guests. Umea's coach Jesper Gustavsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sundsvall Dragons have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Umea at the other side dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. Sundsvall Dragons will play against bottom-ranked KFUM Jamtland (#11) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Umea will play against LF Basket and hopes to get back on the winning track.
