Regular Season Round 6: Fjolnir - Tindastoll 80-98

The game with biggest result difference took place in Reykjavik. Local Fjolnir (1-5) lost to third ranked Tindastoll (5-1) 98-80 on Friday night. The game was mostly controlled by Tindastoll. Fjolnir was better in fourth quarter 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tindastoll dominated down low during the game scoring 86 of its points in the paint compared to Fjolnir's 52. Tindastoll forced 21 Fjolnir turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tindastoll made 11 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Myron Dempsey (203-91, college: Paul Quinn) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 17 rebounds and 6 blocks. The former international guard Darrel Lewis (192-76, college: Lincoln, MO, agency: Two Points) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Da'Ron Sims (195-87, college: W.Georgia) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and forward Olafur Torfason (195-87) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Five Tindastoll and four Fjolnir players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tindastoll have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Fjolnir at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth position with five games lost. Tindastoll will face Keflavik (#4) at home in the next round. Fjolnir will play against Stjarnan (#5) and hope to win that game.
