The game had a very big importance for second-ranked New Zealand Breakers as it allowed them to take a leadership position. New Zealand Breakers defeated 8th ranked Wollongong Hawks in Auckland 71-55. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game.
