WNBL top team - Sydney Uni Flames (5-1) managed to deliver another win on Friday. This time they beat seventh ranked Bulleen Boomers (2-5) 90-78. The game without a history. Sydney Uni Flames led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for Sydney Uni Flames especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. International point guard Leilani Mitchell (165-85, college: Utah, agency: LBM Management) nailed 24 points and 4 assists for the winning side and American forward Mikaela Ruef (190-90, college: Stanford) accounted for 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Sydney Uni Flames players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) came up with 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and guard Rebecca Cole (178-92) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for Bulleen Boomers in the defeat. Sydney Uni Flames have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-1 record. Loser Bulleen Boomers keep the seventh position with five games lost. Sydney Uni Flames will meet West Coast Waves (#4) in the next round. Bulleen Boomers will play against Adelaide Lightning and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
