Regular Season Round 8: Cieszyn - AZS AWF K-ce 69-89

Leader AZS AWF K-ce recorded the sixth victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Cieszyn (0-7) 89-69. The game was mostly controlled by AZS AWF K-ce. Cieszyn was better in fourth quarter 22-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AZS AWF K-ce dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Cieszyn's 46. AZS AWF K-ce had a 27-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Kamil Nowak (197-88) who scored 29 points (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Guard Krzysztof Kurdubski (199-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Tomasz Czajkowski (204-82) produced 11 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Michal Kubaczka (190-94) added 12 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. AZS AWF K-ce maintains first position in Group C with 6-1 record. Loser Cieszyn still closes the standings with seven games lost. AZS AWF K-ce will face Alba Chorzow (#4) at home in the next round. Cieszyn will play against Mickiewicz (#5) in Katowice and hopes to get finally their first victory.
