Regular Season Round 4: Olimpi - Mgzavrebi 62-72

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: Mgzavrebi and Olimpi. Olimpi was defeated at home 62-72 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Olimpi was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 44-31 second half run of Mgzavrebi. They also forced 28 Olimpi turnovers. Olimpi was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by international Merab Bokolishvili (198-92) who scored that evening 24 points and 5 rebounds and forward Tato Chachibaia (201-90) supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Mgzavrebi players scored in double figures. Even 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists by point guard Nodar Gogodze (191-94) did not help to save the game for Olimpi. Guard Nugzar Abuladze (182-95) added 14 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mgzavrebi (1-3) left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with Batumi and Olimpi. Mgzavrebi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Sokhumi.
