Rather predictable result in Tokyo where third ranked Toyota Alvark (7-5) smashed 5th ranked Toshiba Thunders (6-4) 103-78 on Saturday. The game without a history. Toyota Alvark led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 15 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Yasuhiro Yamashita (187-86) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark maintains third position with 7-5 record having just one point less than leader Hitachi SR. Defending champion Toshiba Thunders dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. Toyota Alvark's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Hitachi Sunrockers.
