Regular Season Round 8: GKS Tychy - Astoria Bydg. 79-83

There was a minor upset when higher ranked GKS Tychy (3-5) lost at home to thirteenth ranked Astoria Bydg. (3-5) 83-79. It looked good early as GKS Tychy took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Astoria Bydg. had a 23-13 second period charge getting the lead and GKS Tychy was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-83. 27 personal fouls committed by GKS Tychy helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was guard Marcin Dymala (188-90) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Sebastian Laydych (203-87) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Astoria Bydg.'s coach Przemyslaw Gierszewski allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Power forward Tomasz Deja (200-83) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Jakub Garbacz (197-94) added 21 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Astoria Bydg. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated GKS Tychy. GKS Tychy lost third consecutive game. Astoria Bydg.'s next round opponent will be AZS PP (#12) in Poznan where they are favorite.
