Regular Season Round 9: Quimper - Lourdes 82-83

The most exciting game of round 9 in the NM1 took place in Quimper. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 12th ranked Quimper UJAP (3-6) to second ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (6-1) 83-82 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 32-19 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. British forward Shane Walker (208-87, college: Loyola, MD) stepped up and scored 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and power forward Pierre Pelos (205-92) chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds and forward Mathieu Tensorer (198-83) scored 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lourdes-Tarbes maintains second place with 6-1 record having 2 victories less than leader St Chamond. Quimper UJAP at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with six games lost. Lourdes-Tarbes are looking forward to face Mulhouse Basket (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Quimper UJAP will play against ADA Blois and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
