Regular Season Round 7: Hapoel Eilat - Ironi Nes-Ziona 92-79

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Hapoel Eilat (2-5) beat at home much higher ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (5-2) 92-79 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Eilat. Ironi Nes-Ziona was better in third quarter 29-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Eilat made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American Brian Asbury (201-86, college: Miami, FL) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). International Elishay Kadir (202-87, agency: Avi Zilberman) helped adding 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Hapoel Eilat players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Craig Smith (201-83, college: Boston Coll.) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and naturalized American swingman Robby Bostain (194-84, college: Furman) scored 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Hapoel Eilat moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Galil Gilboa. Loser Ironi Nes-Ziona dropped to the third position with two games lost. Hapoel Eilat will face higher ranked Hapoel Holon (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ironi Nes-Ziona will play against Ironi Nahariya and hope to win that game.
