Regular Season Round 7: Panathlitikos - Athinaikos 69-66

Panathlitikos can celebrate finally their first win this season after seven consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Athinaikos (2-6) 69-66. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Athinaikos won third quarter 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Panathlitikos forced 20 Athinaikos turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tia Gibbs (176, college: Louisville) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Panagiots Tsambouri (170-81) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Afedoula Magaliou (168-79) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds and forward Theodora Panteli (183-87, college: Binghamton) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Athinaikos. Panathlitikos (1-7) left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with Olympiakos. It was Athinaikos' fourth loss in a row. They keep the eighth position with six games lost. Panathlitikos will play against higher ranked Ippokratis (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Athinaikos will play against PAOK and hopes to get back on the winning track.
