There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Niigata Albirex (8-6) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Shiga L-Stars (8-2) 75-69 on Sunday. The game without a history. Shiga L-Stars led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Shiga L-Stars outrebounded Niigata Albirex 39-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia, agency: Haylett Sports) who scored 27 points. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Shiga L-Stars have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 8-2 record which they share with defeated Niigata Albirex. Niigata Albirex lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with six games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face Takamatsu FA (#6) on the road in the next round. Niigata Albirex will play against the league's leader Kyoto Hannar. and hope to win that game.
