No shocking result in a game when third ranked Unicaja Malaga (6-1) beat at home 10th ranked CB Canarias (3-4) 84-68 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Unicaja Malaga. CB Canarias managed to win third quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded CB Canarias 39-22 including 24 on the defensive glass. Unicaja Malaga looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Lithuanian forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205-89) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American forward Caleb Green (203-85, college: ORU) accounted for 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Argentinian-Italian point guard Nicolas Richotti (184-86) came up with 15 points and 4 assists and forward Javier Beiran (199-87) added 17 points respectively for CB Canarias in the defeat. Four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Unicaja Malaga moved-up to second place, which they share with FC Barcelona. Loser CB Canarias keeps the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Unicaja Malaga will meet Valencia Basket (#5) on the road in the next round. CB Canarias will play against Andorra (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
