Regular Season Round 7: Terpsithea - AE Ellinikou 53-87

Undefeated leader AE Ellinikou delivered the eighth consecutive victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked Terpsithea (4-4) 87-53 in Glyfadas. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Terpsithea. The game without a history. AE Ellinikou led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Terpsithea to just 7 points in second quarter. AE Ellinikou forced 19 Terpsithea turnovers and outrebounded them 44-32 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Lykendra Johnson (185-89, college: Michigan St.) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward Afroditi Kosma (187-83) helped adding 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four AE Ellinikou players scored in double figures. AE Ellinikou's coach Eleni Kapogianni felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Alexandra Williams (183, college: St.Francis, PA) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and forward Marianna Axiopoulou (180-84) scored 7 points and 13 assists. AE Ellinikou (8-0) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Newly promoted Terpsithea dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with PAOK. AE Ellinikou will meet Panathinaikos (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Terpsithea will play against Anagenisi and hope to secure a win.
