Regular Season Round 7: Shanghai S. - Jilin NE T. 124-117 OT

Shanghai Sharks can celebrate finally their first win this season after six consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Jilin Tigers (3-4) 124-117. It looked good early as Jilin Tigers took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Shanghai Sharks had a 40-23 second period charge getting the lead. Then Jilin Tigers managed to tie the game at the end of regular time, but lost overtime period 6-13. Shanghai Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Jilin Tigers' 50 and made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Michael Beasley (208-89, college: Kansas St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Taiwanese power forward Wending Zeng (203-84) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Shanghai Sharks' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Dominique Jones (193-88, college: S.Florida) answered with a triple-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists and international forward Cheng Zhong (206-89) added 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Jilin Tigers. Four Shanghai Sharks and five Jilin Tigers players scored in double figures. Shanghai Sharks (1-6) left bottom position moving up to seventeenth place, which they share with Jiangsu TX and Chongqing FD. Jilin Tigers at the other side keep the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Shanghai Sharks will play against higher ranked TianJin Steel (#14) in Tianjin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jilin Tigers will play at home against Shandong Bulls (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
