Regular Season Round 8: Roseto - Matera 89-71

We should mention about the upset which took place in Roseto, where higher ranked Matera (4-4) lost to fifteenth ranked Roseto (2-6) in a road game 71-89 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Matera. The game without a history. Roseto led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall) who scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Naturalized Georgian forward Giga Janelidze (199-95, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Roseto players scored in double figures. American point guard Josh Greene (183-92, college: CS Northridge) produced 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Daniele Bonessio (200-88) added 13 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Matera's coach Giampaolo Di Lorenzo rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Roseto maintains fifteenth position with 2-6 record. Loser Matera dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. Roseto will face higher ranked Aget Service IM (#11) in Imola in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Matera will play at home against Tortona (#12) and hope to win that game.
