Regular Season Round 8: Valladolid - Oviedo 67-65

The most exciting game of round 8 in the LEB Gold took place in Valladolid. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Oviedo CB (4-4) to first ranked Blancos de Rueda (6-1) 67-65 on Sunday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Oviedo CB. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Oviedo CB won fourth quarter 15-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Oviedo CB helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was center Sergio De La Fuente (198-89) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. point guard Mikel Uriz (182-89) chipped in 14 points. American center Kyle Tresnak (208-92, college: Weber St.) produced 14 points and guard Lander Lasa (193-88) added 14 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Blancos de Rueda maintains first position with 6-1 record. Oviedo CB at the other side dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. They share the position with Melilla and Palma. Blancos de Rueda are looking forward to face Planasa NV (#5) in Pamplona in the next round. Oviedo CB will play at home against Burgos and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
