Regular Season Round 8: Casalpusterlengo - FCM Ferentino 58-63

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked FCM Ferentino and 9th ranked Casalpusterlengo had identical 3-4 record. But Casalpusterlengo was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Ferentino 63-58. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-13. But Casalpusterlengo won second period 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Omar Thomas (196-82, college: UTEP) who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. The other American import point guard Markel Starks (188-91, college: Georgetown) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Mitchell Poletti (205-88) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds and Cuban Howard Sant-Roos (200-91) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Casalpusterlengo's coach Andrea Zanchi tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. FCM Ferentino (4-4) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Casalpusterlengo dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. FCM Ferentino's next round opponent will be league's second-placed C.de Latte BRE in Brescia and it may be quite challenging game. Casalpusterlengo will play on the road against Forli (#14) and hope to win that game.
