Regular Season Round 7: Hapoel J-M - Maccabi Ashdod 93-71

Date: November 16, 2014
Very predictable result when leader Hapoel Jerusalem (7-0) smashed at home bottom-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (1-6) 93-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Jerusalem. Maccabi Ashdod was better in second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Jerusalem looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hapoel Jerusalem made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American point guard Derwin Kitchen (194-86, college: Florida St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 6 assists. The former international guard Bar Timor (190-92, agency: Avi Zilberman) helped adding 12 points and 5 assists. Hapoel Jerusalem's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American Curtis Kelly (205-88, college: Kansas St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (200-90, college: Murray St., agency: Comsport) scored 20 points. Hapoel Jerusalem have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Loser Maccabi Ashdod stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Hapoel Jerusalem will face league's second-placed Maccabi Rishon in Rishon Le-Zion in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maccabi Ashdod will play at home against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#8) and hope to win that game.
