Regular Season Round 9: Amsterdam - Groningen 56-85

Bottom-ranked Amsterdam (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 85-56 loss to sixth ranked Groningen (4-4) in Amsterdam. The game without a history. Groningen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Groningen players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Amsterdam was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American point guard Lance Jeter (190-88, college: Nebraska) who led his team to a victory with 21 points. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Dimeo Van Der Horst (195-91) answered with 13 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Gian Slagter (193-91) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Amsterdam. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place. Amsterdam at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Groningen will play against Rotterdam (#6) at home in the next round. Amsterdam will play against the league's second-placed Den Bosch and hopes to get finally their first victory.
