Regular Season Round 8: Stabia - Viterbo 61-52

There was a surprise result in Stabia where ninth ranked Castellammare (2-5) defeated higher ranked Viterbo (3-4) 61-52 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-13. But Viterbo won second period 18-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Castellammare dominated on the defensive end, holding Viterbo to just 7 points in third quarter. They also forced 22 Viterbo turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Bulgarian power forward Diana Voynova (194-88, college: Duquesne) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and guard Nadia Calamai (172-86) who added 18 points and 5 assists during the contest. Castellammare's coach Fabrizio Belfiore used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bulgarian forward Roksana Yordanova (184-84) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Ludovica Chimenz (186-90) scored 4 points and 9 rebounds. Castellammare moved-up to eighth place in A2. Loser Viterbo dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Castellammare will face league's second-placed Bologna on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
