Very important is a road loss of second ranked Kvarner (4-2) against fourth ranked KK Zagreb (5-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Kvarner was defeated by KK Zagreb in Zagreb 88-73. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by KK Zagreb. Kvarner was better in third quarter 29-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kvarner 37-21 including a 24-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. KK Zagreb players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Kvarner was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard Ivan Batur (201-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international point guard Jakov Vladovic (187-83, agency: XL Basketball Agency) helped adding 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Five KK Zagreb players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Marijan Cakarun (204-90) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Dino Cinac (201-88, agency: Court Side) scored 19 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KK Zagreb have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Kvarner at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Ribola Kastela. KK Zagreb will play against bottom-ranked Slavonski Brod (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kvarner will play against KK Zabok (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
