Regular Season Round 5: Toyota A. - Aishin AW 69-54

No shocking result in a game in Nagoya where sixth ranked Toyota A. (3-1) defeated 8th ranked Aishin Wings (1-3) 69-54 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 43-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Toyota A. dominated on the defensive end, holding Aishin Wings to just 6 points in third quarter. They also forced 19 Aishin Wings turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toyota A. made 15 blocks. The best player for the winners was international forward Mika Kurihara (178-89) who scored 19 points. Center Mori Binge (180-88) chipped in 14 points and 4 blocks. Four Toyota A. players scored in double figures. The former international center Hiromi Suwa (183-85) produced 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and power forward Shiyu Sato (178-87) added 17 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toyota A. moved-up to fourth place. Loser Aishin Wings keep the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Niigata R.. Toyota A. are looking forward to face Haneda Vickies (#10) in Tokyo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Aishin Wings will play at home against Chanson V-M and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
