Regular Season Round 8: Asker Aliens - Ammerud Bskt 81-62

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Ammerud Bskt (2-4) was crushed on the road by third ranked Asker Aliens (5-1) 81-62. It looked good early as Ammerud Bskt took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Asker Aliens had a 24-16 second period charge getting the lead and Ammerud Bskt was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-81. Asker Aliens dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Ammerud Bskt's 24. They outrebounded Ammerud Bskt 37-25 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Asker Aliens players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Ammerud Bskt's players. The winners were led by DR Congolese power forward Djo Yele (203-82) who scored that evening 23 points and 6 rebounds and Swedish forward Alexander Nilsson (208-90) supported him with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Four Asker Aliens players scored in double figures. Asker Aliens' coach Rob Knight used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 25 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Mookie Rivelino (194-84, college: Quincy) did not help to save the game for Ammerud Bskt. His fellow American import forward Ronald Timus (196-84, college: Morgan St.) added 14 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Asker Aliens keep a position of league leader, which they share with Gimle BBK. Ammerud Bskt at the other side keeps the sixth place with four games lost. Asker Aliens will play against Tromso (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ammerud Bskt will play against Froya Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
