Regular Season Round 14: Okinawa GK - Gunma 88-65

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Gunma (1-11) was crushed on the road by second ranked Okinawa GK (10-2) 88-65 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-65. The best player for the winners was Trinidad and Tobago power forward Kibwe Trim (208-84, college: Sacred Heart) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. American Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 15 points. Five Okinawa GK players scored in double figures. American forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech) produced 14 points and his fellow American import forward Melvin Ely (208-78, college: Fresno St.) added 6 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Okinawa GK have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-2 record having five points less than leader Kyoto Hannar. Loser Gunma keeps the eleventh place with 11 games lost. Okinawa GK will face league's second-placed Akita Happinets on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gunma will play against Takamatsu FA (#6) and hope to win that game.
