Regular Season Round 3: Naft Abadan - Qazvin 86-78

Qazvin (0-1) recorded a loss on the court of Naft Abadan on Monday night. Visitors were defeated by Naft Abadan 86-78. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 49-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Naft Abadan shot 35 for 54 from the free-throw line, while Qazvin only scored nine points from the stripe. Naft Abadan forced 22 Qazvin turnovers and outrebounded them 53-33 including a 37-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. 42 personal fouls committed by Qazvin helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was international center Asghar Kardoust (212-86) who scored 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international Yonas Lalehzadeh (197-89, college: Cal-Irvine) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Five Naft Abadan players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Vahid Eslami (197) who recorded 27 points and 4 steals and Mohammadreza Moradian added 15 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naft Abadan's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in to the arena .
